Andaz Savannah's monthly salons are events that deliver cultural experiences for guests and neighbors, encouraging creative inspiration through evocative content and spirited discussions with local influencers. Each Salon event is designed to imaginatively impassion guests through a new experience, and to connect them with like-minded individuals, ultimately sparking creativity. The events reflect the passion and vibe of the local community while connecting travelers with kindred spirits and artistic minds. June's salon featured local artist Tiffani Taylor, an American painter who resides in Savannah, Georgia and Paris, France. She is best known for her rich, textured paintings and original pottery.

Love the Wine You're With June

South Magazine and 39 Rue de Jean - Savannah host an evening of Power Networking and Fundraising on the third Wednesday of each month to raise awareness and funds for non-profit organizations. This event is free to attend. Coastal Pet Rescue is the charity for June and guests were invited to bring along their dogs and enjoy a night on the patio featuring, delicious regional wines and exceptional appetizers prepared by the culinary team at 39 Rue De Jean. Each glass of select wine will be priced at $7 and for each glass purchased, $1 will be given to the non profit. A Cash bar is also available for those who prefer beer or Spirits. Due to inclement weather, the event was moved inside to the Oyster Room at 39 Rue De Jean instead of its usual location outside on the patio, but we still had a great time! See you next month!

The JCB Mud Fest Mud Run June 2017

Hundreds of excited competitors came out to the JCB Mud Run and Dig and Ride events on June 20th to test their strength against the elements. Attendees had to endure 100 Degree heat to complete the 5 mile course made up of over 30 obstacles on this hot Savannah afternoon but everyone in attendance had one focus only - Finishing the Race! The event was once again an incredible success and 100% of race proceeds were donated to the children at The Lady Bamford Center for Early Childhood Development. The Lady Bamford Center was created through a joint partnership of JCB, the City of Savannah, and The United Way of the Coastal Empire. The Center opened on October 16th, 2007 and is operated by Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, Inc. The Wesley Community Center has a long and distinguished history of serving the needs of working mothers and minority families in the community.

Father's Day Unity in the Community Camp Festival

Every 3rd weekend of the month, Unity in the Community of Savannah hosts free public events on River St. that bring the community together. Unity in the Community is a nonprofit organization that promotes and hosts free, family-friendly culturally diverse events to give back to the Savannah community. The events feature handcrafted ethnic arts and crafts, home-based businesses, and community nonprofits. Entertainment is provided by churches and other local individuals and groups.

3rd Annual 'Crawl of the South' Memorial Day Bar Crawl

For the past two years, Savannah has attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the largest bar crawl for two years now, with no success. The event brings in 5,000+ crawlers, but each year they’ve reached within 500 participants of the record, but couldn’t quite grab that winning title. Still, the party continues on, but this year they left Guinness out. The focus this year was on the people, the bars, and the fun. The goal is to complete your scorecard by going to each participating bar on the list. At the end, bring your filled out card to the final location for the after party and a free shirt. It’s one of the biggest events of the year for Savannah. Check out our gallery to see who we ran in to along the way!

12th Annual Savannah Mile

Hundreds gathered for the 12th Annual Savannah Mile presented by the Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire that honored our fallen first responders, their families, and our military heroes. The one mile course down Drayton Street from the south end of Forsyth Park to Broughton Street has heats for every fitness level and age group. Our elite first responders and military runners competed for the Full Gear * All Out Flag in the heroes heat in full gear (30 additional pounds). The family friendly Family Fun Run/Walk allowed anyone to participate, including strollers, wheelchairs, and our four legged family members. The Memory Walk had the surviving family members of our fallen first responders walk the mile in remembrance of their loved ones.

Jim Cone Opening Reception at 24e

The opening reception of Jim Cone's fine art display at 24e in downtown Savannah was held Thursday night. The local artist unveiled more than 100 drawings, paintings, sculptures and mixed media pieces. Cone has been creating art for over 40 years. After a recent bout with cancer, he decided to use his talent to help others. "As you can see, his artistry is amazing. Jim's story is nothing short of miraculous,” 24e owner Ruel Joyner said. You can check out the exhibit until June 25. Proceeds from pieces sold will go to the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Health.

Lawyers, Guns & Money 2017

The 5th Annual Lawyers, Guns & Money Sporting Clays Tournament 2017 was presented by Honda, Yamaha, Triumph, Kawasaki, KTM of Savannah. This year's event was be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Forest City Gun Club. The 100 target shoot started at 2pm and was followed by an After Party at 6pm featuring live music by Connellis and the Train Wrecks, a BBQ dinner, local craft beer from Southbound Brewery, wine, a silent auction, a gun raffle and a YETI raffle. This year the proceeds will benefit Abilities Unlimited, a local 501(c)(3) charity that provides progressive exercise programs for individuals in Chatham County with varying disabilities (Birth Defects, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Cord Injuries and Neurological Injuries, etc.).

Crime Stoppers Race Against Crime 2017

On Saturday May 6th, community members came out to help CrimeStoppers fight crime in the community with the Race Against Crime (formerly the Azalea Run)! Runners could choose between the 5K, 10K, and 15K, with all the races starting and ending at Forsyth Park. Proceeds from the event will help fund the rewards that Crime Stoppers uses to pay out for tips that lead to arrests! All the races were dog friendly, and even the pups could get a free matching race bib as part of their "Pooch Patrol".

Big Nasty Mud Run 2017

This year's event marks the 10th Running of the Big Nasty Mud Run, a race with 4.5 miles and 33 obstacles with lots of mud! Runners test their limits on the Ranger Bars, The Wall of Terror, tunnels, tires, mini hills, cargo nets and the Big Nasty Water Slide! Proceeds from the event go to benefit local charities who support veterans and other causes.

Pearls of Power Annual Gala & Art Auction

The Pearls of Power Annual Gala & Art Auction is an annual event sponsored by the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire. This year's event was especially powerful as the Rape Crisis Center is celebrating over 40 years of service to the community this year. With guest speaker Rep. Scott Holcomb, entertainment by Trae Gurley & Friends, and this year's Gala Honorees, Dr. Ann Levette & Cookie Espinoza, the night was filled with fun and great memories.

Optim TJR Golf Tournament 2017

The annual TLC Golf Tournament returned to the Club at the Savannah Harbor on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. It’s a great way to connect with leaders and peers in the tourism community while supporting a great cause – to raise money for scholarships for students studying for careers in tourism and hospitality. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception followed the tournament. Prizes awarded to first and second place gross and net for each flight. Beverages provided throughout the course. Compete in Putt for Eagle and Putting Contest.

Wine, Women and Shoes

Wine, Women & Shoes events are community events that bring women together around fine wine, great style, and causes that matter. WW&S has exploded across North America in the last decade, producing more than 300 fabulous events that have helped net an impressive $44 million for their nonprofit partners. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire puts on the only Wine, Women & Shoes event in the area. The RMHC of the Coastal Empire is a non-profit organization that provides a restful, comfortable place for children and their families to find refuge and support as they receive medical treatment at our nearby hospitals. This year's event was a sold-out affair that's sure to be remembered!

Courtyard Celebration at the Gingerbread House

Among the most elaborate architecture in Savannah is The Gingerbread House - always a "must see" highlight of a guided tour of the Historic District Savannah. The Courtyard Celebration event at the Gingerbread House, that took place on April 25th from 5:30-7pm, was presented by the SavannahHELPS series of monthly charity events that happen every 4th Tuesday at 5:30pm. Guests of the event were asked to bring a $5 donation or pet supplies and food to benefit local charities.

Love The Wine You're With

Love The Wine You're With is a power networking event presented by South magazine and 39 Rue De Jean. It takes place the third Wednesday of each month and is free to attend. This past Wednesday, April 19, guests enjoyed $7 glasses of select regional wine and delicious appetizers while networking and raising funds to benefit the featured charity of the month. Proceeds from this months event went to benefit the Coastal Center for Developmental Services, a non-profit agency that provides employment-related services, training and community integration opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities. Rue De Jean donated $1 from each glass of select wine purchased during the event as well as a silent auction put on by a different local charity!

Cocktails at Cohen's

On Thursday April 13th, roughly 200 guests gathered to celebrate the tireless fundraising efforts of friend and local hero, Don Logana, at Cohen's Retreat in Savannah. There were cocktails, a silent auction, a 50/50 Raffle and live music from Liquid Ginger! All proceeds raised through the event will go toward the National MS Society's "Walk MS Savannah 2017" for Team Don Logana and his fight for a cure to Multiple Sclerosis. By the end of the night, the event had helped raise $2,235 to go towards fight for a cure to MS.

4th Annual Shot in the Dark

The 4th annual "Shot in the Dark" sporting clays took place on Saturday, April 8 at the Dorchester Shooting Preserve. The event was put on by Hodges, Hunter & Wilkes and trial lawyers at Oliver Manor, LLP. All of the proceeds from the event went to the Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision. Teams of four shooters received 100 clays, cart, great prizes and a delicious lunch prepared by the hard workers at Dorchester. After the event, guests were treated to a whiskey tasting.

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

There is an old saying, "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mil in their shoes." And that is exactly what this event does. A Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects and remediations to men's sexualized violence against women. Our men showed us their support last Thursday, April 6 at Forsyth Park.

Tide and Country Grand Opening

The father-daughter business started online, selling one-of-a-kind home decor items and apparel. Now, they have their very own brick and mortar store on Shipyard Road. Daughter Mackenzie and father Michael, along with countless other supporters, cut that red ribbon signifying the opening of their store on Friday, April 7. We wish them all the best of luck!

Publix Women's 5k & Half Marathon

The Publix Women's 5k and half marathon took place early in the morning on Saturday, April 8. The race highlighted the beautiful Historic District in 13.1 miles of tree-lined streets and city squares. Runners ran along side each of Savannah's two largest recreational parks, Forsyth and Daffin. The route also navigated around 12 of the city's scenic squares before a picture-perfect finish at the iconic Forsyth Park Fountain.

Savannah's Best Connections

Savannah's Best Connections took place on Wednesday, April 5th at Billy's Place in Savannah. This event was only the third of its kind, but it sure was a successful night. The event featured guest speaker and former NFL/GSU running back Adrian Peterson, author of Don't Dis My Abilities. Guests were greeted with door prizes and light hors d'oeuvres while mingling among "Savannah's best" professionals and entrepreneurs. A 50/50 raffle benefited the Adrian Peterson foundation.

Barranquilla Carnival Savannah

Festive colors were strewn across Posey Street on Saturday, April 1, as people celebrated the third annual Barranquilla Carnival in Savannah at the Antojo Latino. The outdoor block party was modeled after the carnival held in Barranquilla, Columbia, which is the second largest celebration in the world, just behind Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Attendees feasted on Colombian dishes and drinks as they danced and watched performances by Danza y Tambor, a Venezuelan dance group from Miami.

St. Patrick's Day Firefighter's Ball 2017

Over 100 guests attended this years St. Patrick's Day Firefighter's Ball on Friday, March 18th. This years ball took place at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum on MLK. Guests helped to welcome the newest members of the IAFF Savannah Firefighters, honor those that have recently retired and acknoledge departments that joined from around the world. With an open bar, hor d'oeuvre stations, a silent auction and dancing to live music from Continental Divide, this years ball was one for the record books!
