Surviving the Test of Time: Whelan Chiropractic ~ 23 Years in Practice
Dr. Chris Whelan never stops. When he is not in the office, he can be found on movie sets helping stuntmen and actors, coaching swimming at the Savannah Golf Club, or biking around downtown Savannah. During the work week you will often see him racing around the squares, riding down River Street, or eating on Broughton.

If you need assistance with a physical problem, then Dr. Whelan’s office in the historic district is the place to go. For 23 years he has been providing quality chiropractic care to more than 18,000 residents of Savannah.
“Growing up, my mother raised us while juggling three jobs. The first two jobs were working for other people, while in the third she worked solely for herself. It was that job—the one she was passionate about—that she was the most successful at, and brought her the most joy. I was inspired by her commitment to quality and realized that when you work for yourself, you will work harder than you would for anyone else.”

Entrepreneurial Inspiration
Growing up, my mother raised us while juggling three jobs. The first two jobs were working for other people, while in the third she worked solely for herself. It was that job—the one she was passionate about—that she was the most successful at, and brought her the most joy. I was inspired by her commitment to quality and realized that when you work for yourself, you will work harder than you would for anyone else.
If you could change history
They say that smooth seas do not make skillful sailors—so I would honestly have to say that I would not change a single thing. Everything that has happened to me has brought me to where I am now, and that is where I want to be.
Career Highlight
When I first treated Channing Tatum as a client, he could not bend over to tie his shoes. Three days later, he did a complete flip from a standing position and I knew that he was doing a little better!
Biggest Challenge
In 2013, I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in my lymph nodes. Thankfully my family, friends, and amazing staff, Dr. Erin Todd and Dr. Lyle Myers, all pitched in to keep the practice going. After that, a year like 2020 was easier to bear.
Best Advice
As Thomas Shelby once said, “Entrepreneurship is living a life like most people will not, so that you can spend the rest of your life living like most people can’t. Do what you love so that you will love what you do.”
Motto to live by
Challenge your limits, don’t limit your challenges.
Secret to Success
I used to think that the first secret of success was believing in myself—but now I think that it is also believing in others.
