Yum, Macarons!

When I first heard about Maison de Macarons, I wondered how a shop could sustain itself by just selling one type of cookie.  Broughton Street (and its surrounding area) is uber popular as a tourist destination, and I'm sure it isn't cheap to lease a space there.

Then. I. Tasted. Their. Macarons!

They speak for themselves.  I've always seen these cookies up and down Instagram feeds and I wondered if they were as tasty as they were beautiful.  Tons of bloggers use them as the focal point of their fashion photos because of their bright and colorful hues.  When I found out that Savannah had a bakery devoted solely to these little delights, I just had to check it out.  I was NOT disappointed.  The staff was very friendly but the service was very quick.  I suppose she had to hurry up and get back to making those delicious cookies!

I tried the following flavors: Salted Caramel, Madagascar Vanilla, Chocolate GanacheChocolate-Covered Strawberry, Meyer Lemon, Pistachio, Bananas Foster and Bourbon Pecan.

Bourbon Pecan, Meyer Lemon and Bananas Foster were my favorites but they were all amazing.  Macarons are more expensive than your traditional cookies but they are definitely worth it.

Since my visit, I have searched for macarons at other places, since Savannah is about a 40 minute drive.  I've gone to two bakeries and have even tried the macarons in the freezer section of my local Wal-Mart.  Nothing compares. I'll definitely be making my way back to Maison de Macarons very soon!
