We’ve all heard the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child.” When it comes to filmmaking, truer words were never spoken. “There can be more than a hundred people at any one time working on a film set in specific positions and departments. What makes the Savannah film community so special is that it can populate a production’s multifaceted crew needs almost entirely by local personnel,” writes South's Rhianna Van Helton. There many filmmakers working in Savannah, and they’re working on some big projects, but they don’t always get much credit. What goes on behind the camera is just as important as what’s seen on camera—and it’s time for these behind the scenes people to get their day in the spotlight.
