If you are a fan of seafood, you have not experienced the best unless you have gone to CoCo’s Sunset Grille on Tybee Island.

Nestled in Tybee Island’s marsh on the shores of Lazaretto Creek, this family-style restaurant boasts some of the freshest seafood available in the area. They have their own shrimping boat — the storied Agnes Marie — that  brings in the freshest catch from the shortest journey, from the ocean to the table.

Patrons often wonder why this local hangout is called CoCo’s. Behind the name is a fable about CoCo the monkey, a Tybee Island resident who always slept in and missed the amazing sunrises. The other animals made fun of him, so he went to the other side of the island where he discovered magnificent sunsets instead. Soon after, everyone followed, coming to that side of the island and CoCo’s was born.

The extensive menu includes usual favorite seafood options with a twist — such as Lazaretto Steamed Shrimp and Shem Creek Crab Dip — along with a lengthy list of fresh cocktails. But for a true mouth watering sampling of their magnificent culinary creations, visit CoCo’s Instagram @cocostybee.
