“Monday 5 Things”™ ….. Dreamer …..
He is one of those people that I wish I could have had the opportunity to sit down with over a coffee. When I hear the destructive noise and violent language that exists today in our world, I often wonder what MLK would say to us today. I wonder if those voices would listen or even try and understand his fundamental thesis of peace and justice for all. As I do each year, this morning’s M5T considers some questions around the powerful and profound words of Martin Luther King.
1. What are you doing?
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?” “The time is always right to do right.”
2. Where is your faith?
“Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see.” “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
3. What are you living for?
“If a man has not discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” “Let no man pull you low enough to hate him.”
4. Are you silent?
“In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.”
5. Where do you stand?
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” “To ignore evil is to become accomplice to it.”
Here’s to a week of change for the right reasons, transcending boundaries, and not being silent friends.
