AJC Peachtree Road Race 10K, Atlanta, GA

On July 4, 1970, 150 runners gathered at the old Sears parking lot on the corner of Peachtree and Roswell Road in Atlanta, GA. Of those runners, 110 finished. The group, now known as the "Original 110," ran 6.2 miles through Atlanta to Central City Park in what would go down in history as the inaugural Peachtree Road Race. Every year, one hundred and fifty thousand spectators line the sides of Peachtree Road to enjoy the world’s largest 10K. If you’re going to be one of them, you’ll need to pick your spot and pick it early. Our recommendation: find a place where you can obtain refreshments, shade and, of course, a good view of the course!
