Scott Giddens Ct Bar

The event kicks off with a Jazz Brunch, on Sunday, Oct. 30 where award-winning vibraphonist Christian Tamburr and pianist Scott Giddens will present a tribute to the musical collaboration of Gary Burton and Chick Corea. Starting in the 1970s, both of these pillars of the jazz community collaborated on several duet albums, one of which won a grammy award in 2009.

Sunday evening, Oct. 30 will feature The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra with Carmen Bradford as guest vocalist. This group has won 18 grammy awards and, under the direction of Scotty Barnhart, this ensemble has also won every respected Jazz poll in the world at least once. Their latest honors include being named the #1 Jazz Orchestra in the world by the 2018 DownBeat readers’ poll award.

They have performed for kings, queens, and other world royalty, appeared in several movies, television shows, and at every major jazz festival/concert hall in the world. Their latest honors include the 2018 Downbeat Readers Poll Award as the #1 Jazz Orchestra in the world, as well as a Grammy Nomination for their 2018 acclaimed recording, All About That Basie, which features special guests Stevie Wonder, Jon Faddis, Take 6, and Kurt Elling among others.

Charlton Lower Group Banner

On Monday, Oct. 31, it’s time to groove! Grammy award-winning artist Charlton Singleton & Friends will join forces with Grammy award-winning vocalist Quiana Parler. With a thirteen-piece powerhouse band, they’ll perform several groovy jazz renditions of Earth, Wind & Fire’s most popular songs.

Each night, the rising stars of the Junior Jazz Foundation will showcase their amazing talent as Jazz’s next generation of standard-bearers.
