The "Monday 5 Things" with D. Paul Graham
Monday 5 Things…..Pushing Through…..
A rainy Thanksgiving Day gave me pause to simply sit and think. A luxury of late that I have been remiss in taking time for. Sipping too many absurdly priced, but greatly appreciated, Grande Americano's whilst listening to jazzed up versions of Christmas music, provided an environment of repose for a few hours. Somewhere between the 3rd and 4th cup of black elixir, as the queue of caffeine addicts stretched to the door, I overheard one of the barista’s say to a clearly overwhelmed co-worker/trainee, “keep pushing through man, keep pushing through.” Somewhere between the 5th and 6th chalice of “I may not sleep tonight” another missive took shape. Today’s M5T looks at Pushing Through.
Push through to recognize just how much you have to the thankful for, and to celebrate even the smallest moments of victory and joy.
Push Through to go above and beyond in all that you do. For friends, families, and clients. To love deeper, laugh louder, and forgive quicker. To have the courage to break down barriers, to sacrifice where needed, to renew passions, to take steps of faith, and to choose excellence despite uncertainty.
Push Through the tyrannies of day-timers, pettiness, lethargy, mediocrity, superficiality, fears, the black holes of profound sadness, and unhealthy egos.
Push Through to be creative, live your dreams, to change your perspective, and to see colors, light, and people differently.
Push Through to be a motivator and an inspiration. To strengthen, to be a non-conformist to conformity, and to be a warrior for righteousness.
Here's to a week of Pushing Through whatever is between where you are and where you want to be.
