The Adventure Bucket List

Each of us has dreamed of doing a few things before we kick the proverbial bucket! Whether it is flying a plane, jumping out of one, catching moby dick, or racing a vintage car, what is on your bucket list? Here are a few suggestions to get your wheels turning.

Vintage Car Racing

Who doesn’t look at a vintage sports car passing by with envy and imagine what it would be like to drive it at top speeds? Make it a reality by joining a driving club, like The Oglethorpe Driving Club.

There are plenty of marquee-based clubs such as the Porsche Club of America, the Ferrari Club of America, and the Mustang Club, but there are also regional clubs. The Oglethorpe Driving Club, was orchestrated by Kevin Iocovozzi to gather folks who possessed a number of marquees, not just one, that are trusty both on the road and on the track. Members are beyond enthusiasts and are active in races, Concours d’Elegance events, and other rallies. The club is capped at 50 members and there is a waiting list to get in.  And, yes, there are women in the club! The annual Historic Sportscar Racing Classic held at Hutchinson Island is a greatly anticipated regional event that gathers drivers, male and female, from all over the region.

Jim Goodlett, an active member of the club said about the thrill of vintage car racing, “Versus the modern street rod or race car, in vintage machines, greater attention is needed for swift driving as there is little to no engine management system supervising the driver.” For regional racing schools, visit Skip Barber Racing School, Atlanta. or Performance Driving Group, Palm Beach. For the full article subscribe now!
