Savannah Clovers FC to Face Off Against Soda City FC in the Independent Cup Final
Region-Based Tournament Will See Semi-Pro Team Play Against A Professional Club
The Savannah Clovers Football Club today announced that their opponent for this Saturday’s long-anticipated Independent Cup Final will be regional Columbia, South Carolina based, Soda City FC.
The Independent Cup, which is a region-based knockout competition organized by the N.I.S.A gives semi-professional teams the opportunity to play against other semi-pro teams with the eventual winner facing off against a professional team from their region. This year’s tournament final will be hosted by the Savannah Clovers FC and will take place at Memorial Stadium on July 22nd at 7 PM. “We are excited to host this year’s tournament final during our inaugural season,” said Chief Community Officer Brian Sykes. “As a former semi-pro team, we are familiar with how special the independent cup can be and its importance for giving smaller clubs an opportunity to take a step to the next level.”
“We really want to go out there and put on a great performance for the fans,” said head coach David Proctor. “This match will not only give us an opportunity to turn around some of the unfortunate results we’ve had recently but also a great chance to win the first trophy for our club.”

About Savannah Clovers Football Club
Savannah Clovers Football Club is a Community-based soccer team founded on June 23, 2016 as a local amateur club. The team played in the United Premier Soccer League for five seasons and participated in both the 2020 and 2021 editions of the NISA Independent Cup. The club’s mission is to bring the highest levels of soccer to the Hostess City, while engaging players, fans and local businesses to serve our community. In 2022 Savannah Clovers received a major financial investment resulting in the club turning professional and gaining membership into NISA (The National Independent Soccer League sanctioned as a National Division Three League by the United States Soccer Federation).
