Pooler Tanger Outlets Grand Opening

The Tanger Outlets public grand opening was held yesterday, April 16 at 10:00 A.M. with a crowd of hundreds of celebrants. Presiding over the crowd were Savannah’s iconic Sonny Dixon who introduced the distinguished gentlemen on stage: Tanger CEO, Steve Tanger, Ben Carter Enterprises CEO, Ben Carter, Pooler Mayor, Mike Lamb, and other distinguished guests.

Carter first met with Mayor Lamb in August of 2012 about the idea of building a fashion outlet in Pooler. “It started out as 3 people and then turned into hundreds. And now with all the shops and restaurants, we have added 1,500 new jobs in Pooler.” He estimated that the sales tax revenue to Pooler should be nearly $10 million.

Tanger sang the praises of the community of Poler and his partnership with Ben Carter Enterprises in embracing valuable national brands. There are over 85 stores in the architecturally pleasing outdoor mall that echoes the Georgia coastal region with a lighthouse replica and Georgian architectural elements. The brands include Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch, White Market Black House, Michael Kors, and many others.

Steve Tanger demonstrated his commitment to responsible leadership by giving back to the community by presenting a check to Memorial Hospital’s new Children’s Hospital. On hand were two child survivors of cancer who were successfully treated at Memorial and are now in remission.

After the crowd adjourned, many were lined up to meet the starts of the popular HGTG Property Brothers show. The launch was a success despite the inclement weather, about which Ben Carter said, “It’s cooler in Pooler.” Now that Tanger Outlets is open , we certainly agree!
