Plant Riverside District Partners with Cirque Divina to Offer Free World-Class Aerial Entertainment Every Friday and Saturday Evening

Plant Riverside District recently partnered with Cirque Divina, led by 2020 U.S. National Amateur Aerial Silk Sport Champion Chelcie Nugent, to offer free, family-friendly live aerial entertainment along the Savannah riverfront every Friday and Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Plant Riverside District recently partnered with Cirque Divina, an accomplished local aerial acrobatic troupe, to offer free world-class entertainment every Friday and Saturday evening. Beginning on Feb. 1, Cirque Divina will perform live at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Montgomery Park along the riverfront at Plant Riverside District.

Led by Chelcie Nugent, a former Cirque Italia performer who earned a gold medal as the 2020 U.S. National Champion in Amateur Aerial Silk Sport, Cirque Divina specializes in uplifting, inspirational aerial performances. With talented performers, elaborate costumes and first-class productions, Cirque Divina impresses audiences with gravity-defying acrobatics, aerial silks, juggling and more.

“Cirque Divina offers a beautiful mix of European and traditional cirque styles,” said Cirque Divina owner and producer Chelcie Nugent. “Our productions are family-friendly and ideal for adults as well as children of all ages.”

Originally from Savannah, Ga., Nugent grew up in Indiana and started training as a circus performer at the age of 9. She brings more than 20 years of performance experience to Cirque Divina, including touring nationally with Cirque Italia as a performer for five years. Today, she runs Cirque Divina with her husband Chris Nugent, who manages the company’s business operations. Together, they produce captivating aerial shows that dazzle audiences every weekend at Plant Riverside District.

Cirque Divina also plans to open a studio on the upper level at Savannah Mall in late January, offering a wide range of aerial classes as well as private sessions.
