Places of the South, featuring the Greatest Destinations of the Coastal South including places to Eat, Stay, Play & Shop.
To celebrate the 18th anniversary of South magazine, Brooks Advertising Design, Inc (Bad Ink) has unveiled a substantial paperback book called Places of the South featuring the “Greatest Destinations in the Coastal South.” Michael Brooks, the Creator and Publisher of South magazine, expressed that the compilation, photography, creation, curation, and design of this book took nearly two years. He emphasized the passion and extensive effort invested in the process, underscoring the responsibility that comes with naming destinations as the “Greatest.” Brooks ensured each location was personally endorsed, inviting only those he would wholeheartedly recommend to friends and family. This special edition comprises 316 pages of stunning photography, skillfully captured by some of the region’s most talented photographers. What sets this project apart is the diverse range of talent that collaborated to create a cohesive book. Photographers from across the Southeast eagerly contributed, seizing the opportunity to showcase their work in a high-quality presentation. The matte paper that made up the 312 interior pages, was ordered a year previous to ensure availability in a challenging paper market, but South magazine’s distinctive cover was set aside for this project. In its place, a unique process requiring exceptional photography, design, and meticulous attention to detail in the pre-press stage was adopted. The result is anticipated to be another award-winning edition—a noteworthy achievement for the South magazine team and a story worth sharing.
