Nine Line 5k & 10k race for wounded veterans

The 2nd annual Nine Line Run for the Wounded will take place on May 16th, 2015 from 7:00PM to 10:00PM at the racetrack on Hutchinson Island. The run is co-hosted by Nine Line Apparel and Service Brewing Co., which are two local, veteran-owned and operated companies in Savannah, GA.

All proceeds generated at the event will go to the Nine Line Foundation, a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization that raises awareness of the challenges our severely injured soldiers face upon returning home, as well as increasing the quality of life for our wounded heroes. The Nine Line Foundation is unique because they sponsor one candidate at a time to ensure that all his/her specific needs are met.

The foundation is currently sponsoring their third candidate, Chaz Allen, who sustained multiple injuries, including the loss of both his legs from an IED while deployed in Afghanistan in 2011. Chaz and his wife, Jessica, never stopped to count the amount of surgeries, blood transfusions, or procedures Chaz has had. By spring of 2011, Chaz really only had one viable limb, his left arm. Chaz is a double above the knee amputee with his right arm fused in a ninety-three degree angle. He also has a painful back injury and hearing loss, along with several other issues. The Allen’s are building a wheelchair accessible home to better suit Chaz’s needs and the Nine Line Foundation is working to keep their mortgage as low as possible.

Nine Line Apparel and Service Brewing Co. are both excited to host this event, and are looking forward to hosting Chaz, as well as the foundation’s previous candidate, Mark Holbert, who will be participating in the event for a second year. There will be an after party following the race which will include live music, craft beer provided by Service Brewing Co., a Brewster’s Ice Cream truck, light refreshments donated by Whole Foods, and much more.

We encourage anyone able to participate in the event to come out this Armed Forces Day, May 16th, and participate in the 5k/10k race. This will be a family friendly event so even if you are unable to run in the race, we encourage you to come meet the candidates and take part in the festivities.
