hat is the most challenging aspect of building a $375 million development in a retired power plant building? The team at MR Drywall, LLC says, “The hardest part of the [Plant Riverside District] project was that it was in the historical part of Savannah and right on the river. The location made it difficult to get material delivered to the job site.” Another equality trying part of this project was having to work around the preexisting structure of the power plant. Chief of Operations Adam Codd describes, “You can do your due diligence as far as the surveying and mapping, but you don’t really know the challenges until you’re there … Your plans for that are going back over 100 years.”

In rising to any challenge, there are sure to be rewards. It’s true – the largest redevelopment project in the history of Savannah’s Historic Landmark District is some serious business. However, this business is MR Drywall’s passion, so naturally, this project brought some moments of fun. The most rewarding part of the project for the MR Drywall team was getting to be part of Savannah’s largest redevelopment project ever. “This project was definitely different from other hotels we have worked on,” Katie Hayslip tells South. Dillon Slip adds, “I’m sure we’ll all look back on and say how proud we are of how it turned out.”
