"Monday 5 Things" with D. Paul Graham

Monday 5 Things…..Just Be…..

Have you had those times in life of too little sleep, too much self-doubt, too many questions and inconsistencies in your life and those around you? Pacing, whether literally or metaphorically like a caged animal? Needing clarity for direction and decisions? Wishing you could turn your mind off – even for a moment? A dear friend gave me a book that I finally picked up and read cover to cover during one of those nights.  “Be” is a compilation of quotes about living life with a purpose. Being in the here and now. About dreaming, confronting fears, taking a breath, and living with passion. An easy, yet profound, moving and thought provoking read. Plus, if you have followed my images on FB and IG, you know I’m a sucker for a good quote. Today's M5T shares five of my favorite quotes compiled by Kobi Yamada in the book ‘Be’.

1. Be present

“In life there are no ordinary moments.  Most of us never really recognize the most significant moments of our lives when they’re happening.” Kathleen Magee

2. Be open

“Above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you, because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” Roald Dahl.

3. Be brilliant

“Do more than exist, live. Do more than touch, feel. Do more than look, observe. Do more than read, absorb. Do more than hear, listen. Do more than listen, understand. Do more than think, ponder. Do more than talk, say something.” John H. Rhoades

4. Be strong

“We define ourselves by the best that is in us, not the worst that has been done to us.” Edward Lewis

5. Be true

“At the heart of each of us, whatever our imperfections, there exists a silent pulse of perfect rhythm, which is absolutely individual and unique, and yet which connects us to everything else.” George Leonard.

Here’s to your week of finding your “be’s” and to putting the ‘should have’s’, ‘could have’s’, and ‘what ifs’ behind you; shifting your gaze to the positive possibilities ahead of you instead.
