"Monday 5 Things" with D. Paul Graham
Monday 5 Things…..He Had A Dream…..
Fifty years ago today, the US and the world was still in shock as Martin Luther King, Jr. was buried four days after his assassination. Today’s M5T reflects on some of the profound words from a man that had the vision, courage and tenacity to be a catalyst for change for an entire nation.
1. A Question
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’"
2. A Calling
“Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, just be a trail. If you can’t be a sun, be a star. For it isn’t by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are."
3. A Challenge
"If we are not careful, our colleges will produce a group of close-minded, unscientific, illogical propagandists, consumed with immoral acts. Be careful. ‘brethren!’ Be careful teachers."
4. A Test
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
5. A Mindset
“We must develop and maintain a capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies."
Here’s to a week of dreams, visions, and the legacy of a life lived with purpose.
