"Monday 5 Things" with D. Paul Graham

.....Free Choices.....

Monday 5 Things…..Free Choices…..

Last week was crazy for me to say the least. A relatively good crazy but one that left me thankful that I was able to call ‘do-over’ for this morning’s M5T. As such, I ask your forbearance for this do-over of a M5T that is just as relevant today than it was over 4 years ago. At the risk of sounding overtly simplistic, with all the doom, gloom, violence, politicking, obscenely skewed media bias (both left and right leaning) and barefaced lying that we are assaulted with of late, it’s no surprise that pessimism can seep into our thinking. M5T takes a look at five choices you can make today, right now as you read this to neutralize the negativity. Be warned that should you make any or all of these choices, there can be an immediate and positive impact on how you approach this Monday.

1. Issues.

Choose to pick the one big thing, issue, or person that is giving you the most headache and don’t let the day go by without finishing, resolving, or reconciling whatever of whoever that is. Choose to fight through the challenge and temptation to procrastinate and get it done today.

2. Media.

Choose to go through today without a reading a newspaper or watching the news. Painful? Perhaps, but your blood pressure may just drop a notch or two. Instead, download a book about something you know nothing about – just to learn something new.

3. Live.

Choose that you’ll make things happen today rather than waiting for things to happen to you. Don’t just live in the moment – cherish every moment of today. Choose to finish. Choose to win.

4. Produce.

Choose to produce your best and go above and beyond in everything you do today, even if no one asks or notices. Consciously seek out someone you respect and schedule some time with them just to ask questions, listen, and gain some wisdom.

5. Positivity.

Choose to find something positive to say to anyone and everyone that crosses your path. This may be easier said than done but you’ll make their day and you just might be pleasantly surprised at how your attitude changes.

Here’s to a day and a week of positive choices and perspectives that we choose to control. And of worthwhile do-overs.
