Meet the Coastal Heritage Society at the May Martinis Event
For eight years, South Magazine and the Mansion on Forsyth Park have hosted the popular Martinis at the Mansion event at 700 Drayton Restaurant, creating a power networking environment where professionals can learn about and support local non-profit organizations. Always on the third Wednesday of the month, the May event on the 18th will feature the Coastal Heritage Society, a 501 (c)3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1975 which operates five historic museums in Savannah including; the Georgia State Railroad Museum, Savannah Children's Museum, Savannah History Museum, Old Fort Jackson and Pin Point Heritage Museum.
This month's event will focus on educating guests about the organization's "Cultured Coast" events, which provide members and community residents diverse and engaging opportunities to connect and experience history in unique and exciting ways. Past "Cultured Coast" events have included sailing adventures, wine tastings and exclusive tours in an effort to redefine the stigma that history is boring and showcase the programs at CHS which have a little something for everyone.
Attendees at the event will enjoy testing their knowledge of Savannah history, facts and lore with a special trivia game, along with chances to win special prizes, including a one-year membership to the Coastal Heritage Society, museum passes and a copy of David Wondrich's "Imbibe!: A Salute in Stories and Drinks." Five dollar happy hour specials will be provided by the staff at 700 Drayton in addition to delicious samples from Chef Roberto Leoci and team. Additionally, the South Magazine red carpet will take you back in time with historic costume props to get you in the spirit of the evening and photos by Cool Savannah Photography.
This event is free and open to the public and all guests age 21 and older are welcome to join in this fun evening of wit and cocktails to learn more about the Coastal Heritage Society's historic museums and events. The event will take place from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at 700 Drayton Restaurant on Forsyth Park.
