Hot Air Balloon
This adventure is a great old-fashioned escape and chance to view the world from the clouds. Riding in a hot air balloon is as romantic as it is adventurous. Viewing the world from the clouds is something that everyone should experience at least once in their lives. Captain Telegram of Columbia, South Carolina says, “ I hear ‘bucket list’ all the times as the reason people come fly with me!” Rides last a full hour at a range of 1,000 to 3,000 feet in the air. Weather conditions are all important to ballooning, and the winds need to be calm and steady, preferably less than 10 miles per hour. Because the ocean generates so much wind, you won’t find balloon operators near the Lowcountry beaches. Instead, you can find them in Columbia, Greenville, and Atlanta. One of Captain Telegram’s fun rides flies of Lake Murray and even touches down on the water for his ‘splash and dash’ special. His typical 2-person ride is $450.
