Heal. Grow. Be Wild.
What happens when your passion intersects with your calling? In Jeanne Paddison’s world, that means developing a wildlife rescue center from scratch.

Eddie the skunk, is another success story. The sole survivor of his family, he was rescued from the side of the road and integrated into the SWRC family. Photos by D. Paul Graham.
When Jeanne Paddison was 14 years old, her father brought home an orphaned baby raccoon whose tree was cut down and in need of care. Now, Paddison is a full time wildlife rehabilitator dedicated to the purpose of giving wildlife a second chance.
What happens when your passion intersects with your calling? In Paddison’s world, that means developing a wildlife rescue center from scratch. Her love of animals and wildlife began at a young age with her father “bringing home any creature he came across in need.” What developed from their connection turned into Savannah Wildlife Rescue Center – “a place of treatment and nurturing for orphaned or injured wildlife.”
Paddison “welcomes any animals she is able to help with open arms” while specializing in baby raccoons. She also rehabilitates over 17 different indigenous species of mammals. Her life’s work is to educate people on how to coexist, respect and enjoy all wildlife.
“It’s not always a bed of roses, It’s hard work!” says Paddison. Our dedicated and compassionate volunteers and interns help us carry out our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and release, so that the animals have a second chance at a wild life.
Looking for ways to help the cause? A donation list of needed items is posted on their website containing things like appropriate food, bedding, and other miscellaneous supplies. As for bringing patients in, they recommend contacting the rescue clinic immediately if an injured or sick animal is found.
