APPROACH

Our practice is old school, relying upon the adage of “the three A’s”:availability, affability, and ability. Every patient who comes through the door sees me, not a physician extender.

WHEN AND WHY

I am a fourth-generation physician. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to follow in the footsteps of the superb physician role models within my family: my father, my maternal uncle, my grandfather, and my great grandfather.

OUTSTANDING MOMENT

It’s impossible to choose just one, but every time I improve the eyesight of one of our patients it is an outstanding moment. That feeling never gets old.

OUTSTANDING MENTORS

I have been fortunate to have many mentors who have guided my career path, but my mentor in fellowship training, Bill Collis, M.D.,taught me to be ambidextrous in surgery. I’m forever grateful for his generosity towards me.

OUTSTANDING TECHNOLOGY

My practice is a solo clinic in ophthalmology specializing in anterior segment surgery, refractive surgery such as LASIK, PRK, and the implantable contact lens. Procedures like refractive lens exchange allow the implantation of multifocal lenses which can provide simultaneous far and near vision, thus reducing, or in some cases, even eliminating, the need for reading glasses. Recently, the FDA has improved a new eyedrop which allows for better reading vision without glasses or surgery. Expect more innovation in this space in years to come.

COVID-19 CHALLENGES

The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to shut down almost completely (except for emergencies) for about six weeks in the spring of 2020. We took advantage of the free time to re-imagine our practice, focusing on details that have allowed for us to emerge from the pandemic with a leaner, more efficient clinic, and a better, more user-friendly experience for our patients. We implemented a new medical record system, improved our waiting room, repaved the parking lot, updated our signage, and re-did our landscaping. We have an amazing team.
