YOUR JOURNEY INTO MEDICINE

My childhood dream was to become a scientist or a researcher, and by the time I started high school I had my mind set on becoming a physician. I finished medical school in Syria and moved to the United States to advance my education. It is here where I learned English, specialized in internal medicine and sub-specialized in nephrology ( kidney diseases) and intensive care medicine.

WHAT IS A COMMON MISCONCEPTION IN YOUR FIELD?

Not everyone with chronic kidney disease (CKD) will progress to needing dialysis. As as matter of fact that is a very tiny percentage of CKD patients.

DEFINING MOMENTS

Helping patients confront their fear and holding their hands towards recovery. Reassuring them and assisting them in understanding the process of their disease.

NEWEST, LATEST AND GREATEST

I’m excited about an invention that will become available in the next several years. A portable, individual artificial kidney that hopefully will replace the current dialysis practice.

IF YOU WERE IN FRONT OF A CROWD, WHAT MESSAGE WOULD YOU LEAVE WITH THEM?

Stay focused on your health, love everyone and stay happy.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I like listening to books and trying to improve playing pickleball. I love spending time with my family and traveling together domestically and abroad.
