Don’t Turn a Blind Eye

Flying planes, creating music, and going to the shooting range are just a few of the things you might see Ignacio Triay doing. Born prematurely, Ignacio was born blind; although he’s never thought of this as anything to limit him.

From Guatemala City,  Ignacio is now a sound design student at SCAD. Introduced to the Savannah Center of the Blind and Low Vision while touring SCAD has given him a local community to lean back on. Teaching him his way around the city and other daily living skills. On January 12, from 6 to 10 P.M. the center will host their annual Dining in The Dark at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Savannah. Guests are invited to a unique sensory experience as they are escorted into a pitch black dining room by Savannah Metro’s SWAT team. Once at your table, your senses will begin on a journey that will take you to a whole new heightened appreciation of smell, taste, sound and touch.
