District Live at PRD to Celebrate “Great Ladies of Jazz” on April 26
This special evening of music will take listeners on a lyrical journey into the lives and songs of legendary vocalists including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.
District Live at Plant Riverside District will host “Great Ladies of Jazz” at District Live on Wednesday, April 26, featuring live music by international recording artist Shana Tucker and The Christian Tamburr Trio as part of a special tribute to iconic female jazz vocalists including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.
Plant Riverside District is pleased to celebrate “Great Ladies of Jazz” at District Live, located at 400 W. River St., featuring live music by international recording artist Shana Tucker and The Christian Tamburr Trio on Wednesday, April 26. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the performance starting at 7:15 p.m.
This special evening of music will take listeners on a lyrical journey into the lives and songs of legendary vocalists including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. “Great Ladies of Jazz” will feature renowned vocalist and musical storyteller Shana Tucker backed by internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and vibraphonist Christian Tamburr, bassist Billy Thornton and drummer Al Sergel IV.
Tucker is a renowned vocalist and accomplished cellist who performed in Cirque du Soleil’s KA show in Las Vegas for five years. The Howard University graduate calls her musical style “ChamberSoul” and is known for dynamic, engaging live performances blending jazz, roots, folk and R&B. All About Jazz has called Tucker a “multitalented vocalist” with a “bright, bluesy, jazzy” style.
