Poe’s Tavern

Moody ambiance with delicious dishes.

This all-American restaurant makes all of its menu items in-house while modeling its design and menu on the life and works of Edgar Allen Poe.

Located in Savannah’s Yamacraw Village, nestled close to the waterfront, Poe’s Tavern opened its fourth location at the start of August. Open daily, Poe’s cozy booths and bar are surrounded by a brooding color palette and several pictures of the man himself, Edgar Allen Poe. The menu shines with its seafood tacos and gourmet burgers like the “Amontillado,” a guacamole, jalapeño jack cheese, pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream burger named after one of Poe’s most iconic stories. The tavern grinds all of its beef in-house, and makes its veggie patties from black beans. This restaurant follows up its food with an array of wine, 24 selections of draft beer, and signature cocktails like The Poe’s Punch. Their space is a newly renovated fire station with two garage doors and a large, dog-friendly patio. While Poe’s life was mysteriously cut short, one of Savannah’s newest restaurants seems set for a long and healthy life.
