All Aboard

The adventure begins when you board an Amtrak train. Safe, efficient, and reliable travel and a vacation that starts much sooner than others.

Henry Miller, writer and traveler, once said, “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” Train travel has been romanticized the past few decades, although that has not always been the case. In the mid 1800’s (and for roughly the next century) trains served as people’s main means of transportation. Industrialist and founder of Standard Oil, Henry Flagler, was also the founder of the Florida East Coast Railway in the South and brought railroads to the Southern coast in the late 1800s, contributing largely to the development of coastal Florida.

As Flagler began to frequent Florida more and more, he decided to invest in the state. He bought and refurbished several hotels, and created a railway system that would allow people to travel to and from and all throughout Florida with ease. St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and Palm Beach all began to be some of Florida’s hottest “playgrounds” such as Casa Monica in St. Augustine, The Ponte Vedra resort outside of Jacksonville, and The Breakers in Palm Beach thanks to Henry Flagler.
