“Monday 5 Things”™ ….. Reflections …..
The end of the year isn’t just about wrapping up loose ends. It’s an opportunity to pause, reflect, and learn from the last 12 months. It’s not about reliving the past. It’s about learning from it. It’s about more than just nostalgia. It’s about honoring your journey and using it to shape your path forward. It wasn’t about perfection. It was about perspective. 2024 was a unique chapter in your story, with every highlight, challenge, and lesson learned adding depth to your joys, trials, and transformations that shape who you are. On this last Monday of 2024, M5T takes a deep breath of gratitude and reflects on this past year as we head into 2025 with intention and hope.
1. HIGHLIGHT REELS. Reflecting on your highlights from this year isn’t just a feel-good exercise—it’s a way to recognize what truly matters to you. What moments brought you the most joy, pride, or peace in 2024? What were your big wins? Did you reach a major milestone? Don’t overlook personal achievements, like finally prioritizing self-care or rekindling an old friendship. Don’t forget the small wins through the year. Micro moments and first steps can often be magic in your life. That first visit in years to the gym. The first page of the book you’ve wanted to write. Perhaps it was that spontaneous road trip, or a heartfelt conversation that lingered in your mind. Big wins only come from getting started. What shared triumphs did you have this year? Who celebrated alongside you? Who inspired you, challenged you, stood by you through the tough moments helping to lift the weight of a burden with you, and who celebrated unselfishly with you? Reflecting on your highlights from this past year can deepen your appreciation for the growth you’ve experienced, the lessons you’ve learned, and the relationships that make your life meaningful. As we get ready to watch the ball drop, it will be time to let go of the past and move forward into 2025 with a fresh slate for new highlights to be created.
2. CHALLENGES ACCEPTED. Challenges are a part of life, but they often shape us in profound ways. Acknowledge them. Take time to examine the difficulties of 2024. Not to dwell on them, but to understand and learn from them. What were your toughest moments? What situations tested your patience, resilience, courage, or faith. Were there financial struggles, health scares, or personal conflicts? Did you try to find solutions, or did you press them down, not wanting to face them? How did you overcome them? What truths about yourself and life were revealed in the challenges? Did you lean on support from others, dig deep for inner strength, or find creative solutions? Acknowledging your own resourcefulness and adaptability can boost your confidence. What lessons did you learn? Every challenge has something to teach. Reflect on how these moments have changed you or your perspective moving forward. Celebrate the fact that you’re standing stronger and wiser than at the start of the year.
3. GOALS REVISITED. At the start of 2024, you probably set some intentions. Whether they were formal resolutions or quiet aspirations, take some time to revisit them. What goals did you achieve? Celebrate your wins, no matter how small. Even partial progress is worth recognizing. What fell off the radar? Be honest with yourself about goals that didn’t stick. Life happens, and priorities shift. Reflect on whether those goals still matter or if they no longer align with your values. What surprised you? Sometimes we achieve things we didn’t set out to do. Did you discover a new skill, cultivate a meaningful habit, or have an unplanned breakthrough? Use those to influence your intentions for 2025. Set goals that resonate with who you are today, not who you thought you’d be a year ago.
4. GRATITUDE EXPRESSED. Gratitude is the lens that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Reflecting on what you’re thankful for in 2024 can help you close the year with a full heart. Who in your life made your year brighter? Acknowledge the friends, family, colleagues, or even strangers who offered kindness, support, or encouragement. Don’t hold back on telling them how much they mean to you. Celebrate your community. Think about the moments and experiences that brought you the most joy or growth. What were the most meaningful events, which might be a difficult situation that turned into a blessing in disguise? Sometimes, the best things are right in front of us. All the more reason to pause and appreciate constants in your life. Practicing gratitude regularly, even beyond the end of the year, can cultivate a more positive and resilient mindset.
5. LESSONS LEARNED. Each year is a instructor, offering lessons in every experience that we live. Reflecting on these lessons can help you grow and prepare for the future. What did you learn about yourself this past year? Where was your personal growth? Perhaps you discovered new strengths, finally let go of old toxic habits, gained clarity about your values, or strengthened your faith. What did 2024 teach you about the people and relationships in your life? Who can you rely on, what boundaries are needed, or how can you show love more effectively? What perspectives and broader lessons revealed themselves to you this year? Perhaps you learned to let go of perfectionism, embrace uncertainty, or focus on what truly matters. It’s up to you to take those seeds of wisdom from lessons learned in 2024 as you move into the New Year.
Here’s to raising a glass of something festive, bidding 2024 a thoughtful auld lang syne for the year it was, and to welcoming 2025 with open arms for the exciting possibilities ahead. I’m so thankful for the time you spend with M5T, and I wish you all wild success in 2025!
