Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire: The Place of Nonprofit
Their Home is filled with more than help; it is filled with hope… Since 1987, The Ronald McDonald House in Savannah has been helping families feel at home even when they can’t be.
The organization believes in supporting children and families throughout the Coastal Empire and helping them access the medical care and resources needed. While they don’t administer medical care, they keep thousands of families close to the critical care they need, and to each other. Their programs provide essential care like places of respite for parents, space for children to be children, and communities of support for all family members dealing with a child’s medical crisis. They believe when families are together, they cope better, and believe that no family should deal with a medical crisis alone. During the pandemic, they remained open. Not one day was lost and provided over 11,000 family night stays. Open 24/7/365 with a full-time staff of only five (six with their director of “fun” development, Willow, the therapy dog), it is their belief that their diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences that each member of the team brings to the table allows them to provide the care and support that children and their families need. Stronger together because of their diversity, they will never waiver in their commitment of being there for those who need them the most and in keeping families close.
