Born in the heart of Bourbon County in Paris, Kentucky, in 1856, relocating to Montreal, Canada during the prohibition-era and returning to its origins where it’s currently produced in Bardstown, Kentucky, this crowned jewel boasts a rich and enduring history. Once the house whiskey at the famed and historic Cotton Club in Harlem during prohibition, where it was smuggled into the club in sealed cans and ceremoniously opened tableside. Unstoppably popular by the end of prohibition, “The Famous Old Brand,” a moniker it still proudly sports, was nearly eliminated when a distillery fire put it out of business after WWII. The stuff of dreams was relegated to history, until the historic bottles and relics on display in the Oscar Getz Museum in Bardstown, Kentucky, caught the eye and visioneering passion of the founder of Chicken Cock Whiskey, Matti Anttila. Inspired by the brand’s preserved collection, Anttila was dedicated to resurrecting the original excellence right down to the look, creating replicas of the 1800s packaging for a new era of Chicken Cock.
