20 Adrenaline-Packed Ways to Play in the South – Part 2

1. Get Air trampoline park
Whether you want to wear out the kids or relive your daredevil youth, you can do it at Get Air Trampoline Park in Savannah. The vast indoor facility has trampolines covering almost every inch, so you can bounce up the walls, launch yourself in the air to dunk a basketball, flip into the foam pit, or show off your acrobatic skills. getairsavannah.com

2. Cycle it
Most people’s first thought of cycling involves the image of Lance Armstrong and the likes climbing steep hills in the Tour de France, but the Savannah College of Art and Design cycling team proves that you don’t need mountains to develop first-class cyclists. Coach Ben Van Winkle’s team features world-class talent like Abby Youngworth, who recently placed 11th at the collegiate Cyclocross Nationals in Reno, Nevada, and 18th in the U23 Pro/Elite Championships, and Clayton Stone, who placed second in the Criterium and third in the time trial at last spring’s USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals.

3. Go Kart-ing
You might never get to zoom around the banked turns at Daytona International Speedway, or even turn right to go left at the local dirt track, but the go-kart tracks at Fun Zone Amusement and Sports Park in Pooler can provide a good substitute if you feel the need for speed. The park features four go-kart tracks ranging from the kids track to the high-speed Hi-Bank Track that is limited to licensed drivers. poolerfunzone.com

4. Kick. push.
Just because you can’t hit a McTwist or even land a kickflip doesn’t mean you can’t hop on a skateboard and get a rush. For a beginner, just dropping into the halfpipe can be a wild ride, and every new trick you learn provides the juice to keep taking chances. Savannah finally has its own public skate park at Lake Mayer Community Park thanks to a dedicated bunch of skaters who spent years raising money to make it a reality. South Carolina skaters can shred at public skate parks in Bluffton and Port Royal, and the park in Port Royal is covered, so you can grind on a rainy day. If you want to take up the sport, you can grab a cheap board at a sporting goods store, but you’re better off going to a local shop like Clockwork on Broughton Street to build and customize a better rig.

5. Satisfy your need for speed
Only a select few adrenaline junkies have the means to get behind the wheel of a supercar like a Ferrari, Aston Martin or Lamborghini, but you can do just that when the Motorsport Lab Autocross Experience kicks off its 2018 tour March 3 at the Westin Savannah Harbor. Participants in the 60-minute, group-based experience will get to take three laps around a car-control course in a Ferrari F458 Italia, Ferrari F430, Aston Martin Vantage or Lamborghini Gallardo – a once-in-a-lifetime experience for gearheads.
