The Statesboro Kiwanis Rodeo will host their 10th annual event starting tonight, April 23 and 24— with local vendors, professional bullfighter Jake Geiger, and an advanced team from Optim Orthopedics, it’s a family fun event for all ages! Come meet Miss Rodeo USA and more!
Optim Orthopedics, along with Delan Gaines MD, Don Aaron MD and John McCromick MD, will be hosting professional bullfighter Jake Geiger to the Statesboro rodeo. The primary job of the bullfighter is to protect a fallen rider from the bull by distracting the bull and providing an alternative target for the bull to attack. These individuals expose themselves to danger in order to protect the cowboy.
When a rider has been hung up, they face the extremely dangerous task of trying to free the rider, with one team member going to the bull’s head and the other attempting to release the rider.
Optim Orthopedics is proud to not only sponsor the rodeo but will also be bringing the Micro C – the first FDA approved hand-held X-ray, and a finalist in the xTech military awards. Dr. Gregory Kolovich, OXOS Co-Founder, Chief Medical Officer and Micro C inventor says it will change healthcare as we know it. “Confirming reduction of a both bone forearm fracture is challenging with a large, tethered C arm but the Micro C from OXOS Medical gives us infinite degrees of freedom to confirm reduction. Huge success and incredibly easy thanks to the flexibility of the Micro C!”

About the Statesboro Kiwanis Rodeo
The first Statesboro Kiwanis Rodeo was held in 2011 and has grown into a family fun event that local spectators and competitors look forward to all year! The Rodeo is one of two main fundraisers put on by the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro to help raise money for the Bulloch County area. Money raised at the Rodeo is given back directly to the community via the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro.
About Rodeo
Rodeo has a unique quality of origin to which no other professional sport can lay claim. It emerged from an industry… from the daily routine and tasks of a low paying job with long hours performed by ranch hands who came to know very well the animals with which they lived.
If it were any other kind of job, leisure hours might have produced another kind of ball game rather than a recreation involving the very animals one had already spent long hours tending. But cowboying has always been more of a way of life than a job or an opportunity to get rich
