In 1898, the entrepreneurial spirit of German immigrant Samuel Bernstein sparked the creation of a restaurant supply store on Congress Street.
Decades later, in 1969, Samuel’s son, Stephen Bernstein, stepped into the family business, contributing to its daily operations. By 1971, Stephen was ready to forge his own path, giving rise to Restaurant Equipment Co. of Savannah—a pivotal resource for local eateries, bars, hotels, clubs, schools, and military facilities, delivering tailor-made commercial kitchen solutions.
Fast forward to 2020, when Stephen Bernstein handed the reins to a dedicated team of long-serving employees, firmly committed to upholding the legacy of excellence. Under the banner “Eat Out, It’s Good for Us,” this now employee-owned company boasts an expansive inventory encompassing commercial stoves, refrigeration units, cookware, utensils, and more, addressing every facet of the restaurant industry. Their knowledgeable staff, accessible to the public, provides expert guidance, ensuring customers discover the ideal solutions for their unique needs.
Adding an exciting chapter to their story, Restaurant Equipment Co. of Savannah recently embarked on a new venture by opening a second location in Bluffton, SC.
