(Featuring the adventure issue fashion spread models)
One month into spring, and it seems the weather is finally deciding to cooperate with the season. With blue skies and sunny days comes the abandonment of sweaters and boots and the onset of shorts and sandals. After months of cuddling up with Netflix and hot coffee, one might find his or herself at a loss for what to do now that walking outside is a welcome possibility. Here at South we have come up with a few ideas to help you take advantage of everything this time of year has to offer! So put on some Beach Boys, pay attention, and get some springtime inspiration!
Get a Fresh New Look
Ladies and gents, now is the perfect time to reinvigorate your closet and get a new take on your sense of style. As a time of renewal and rebirth, spring is the perfect occasion to reinvent yourself. Ladies, check out Mamie Ruth for some awesome spring clothing and accessories (featured in the photographs), and guys, Half Moon Outfitters is a good place to start, as well as J. Parker’s. Get out and try something different.

Go to the park
Savannah has a litany of public parks that are perfect for picnics, going for a run, or playing a game of frisbee. As a community hub with tennis courts, playgrounds, basketball, a fountain, cafes, and plenty of open green space, Forsyth Park dominates the list. Check out this website for a comprehensive listing of all the public parks!
Challenge Yourself
New Year’s really wasn’t too long ago, but some of us are already giving up on our New Year’s fitness resolutions. Have you been skipping the weekly workout to which you swore you’d commit? Does your gym membership need a little attention? Now is the time to reinvigorate and re-commit! A good place to start is a local race. Check out the upcoming Color Run on May 21st at Forsyth Park. For a little fashion motivation, lululemon athletica on Broughton is the perfect place to pick up some cute training-wear.
Embrace a New Perspective
I bet you don’t know what a “Krucker Cygnet Amphibious Trike” is. Essentially, it’s like a flying motorcycle. The perfect time for a new experience, and a new, aerial perspective, is NOW. See Savannah like never before – from 1000 feet up in the air. Visit amphibianair.com for more information!

Become One With Nature
Not only is springtime optimal beach time, it’s also perfect camping weather. For the true wilderness adventurer, little Tybee Island is a great place to escape civilization and spend a night under the stars. If you’re looking for a little bit more modern convenience, Skidaway Island State Park is beautiful and fully equipped for RV’s and tents. A good mix of both is found at Cumberland Island, where the closest camp offers cabins, tent space, and bathroom/shower facilities. Further out camps offer a complete wilderness experience. Be sure to plan in advance though; This beautiful state park often books up fast! Stock up on supplies at Camping World, gear up at Rivers & Glen, and spend some time in the great outdoors!
Be a Tourist
Spring is the height of tourist season in Savannah – for good reason. Downtown and River Street become a lovely cobblestone paradise. A swaying Spanish moss canopy, the fresh breeze off the river, and the blooming springtime flowers make for a heavenly scene – one we often take for granted. Take a few days off to see the town as a tourist. Visit one of our esteemed restaurants, stroll through historic ground, check out a graveyard or two, and maybe even stay a couple nights at one of our world class hotels. The Bohemian Hotel is a great place to start, with luxurious rooms, a renowned eatery, and a superb location right on the river. You’ll have the whole city at your fingertips.
