Dining in the Dark 2019

Published:

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, the 3rd Annual Dining in the Dark event presented by The Charles C. Taylor and Samir Nikocevic Charitable Foundation benefitting the Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision, was held at the Embassy Suites/Downtown Savannah.

Dining in the Dark is a rare and unique sensory experience where guests can gain a better understanding of vision loss and blindness. Upon their arrival, guests enjoyed a cocktail party and had the opportunity to bid on some fabulous silent auction items. Guests entered the Embassy Suite's beautiful dining area in two phases. First, a blackout chamber  of complete darkness, then a member of the local SWAT team will guided guests to their seat. Once at the table, guests began a whole new heightened appreciation of smell, taste, sound and touch.

All proceeds from this event benefited the Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision located at 1141 Cornell Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31406. The Center provides vital programs that assist children and adults living with blindness or vision impairment the opportunity to achieve their highest level of independence.
