Why You Should Visit St. Simons and Jekyll Island
Just one hour south of Savannah, you will discover the Golden Isles, a beautiful region of the state where a plethora of activities ranging from dining, shopping, lodging and outdoor exploring await you! St. Simons and Jekyll Island, two of the islands (which are public) that make up the Golden Isles, both truly have so much to offer.

At St. Simon’s, major points of interest include the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum, Christ Church and Cannon’s Point. After you’ve finished admiring your surroundings and need to rest for a while, be sure to stop off for a bite to eat at Delaney’s Bistro, Ember or Bubba Garcia’s…you’ll need to refuel before all of the shopping you’re going to do! The stores we recommend are all located in Redfern Village, which is known for its variety of shopping and dining options, so you can be sure to visit all of them in the same afternoon: Viola’s Market, McRobins and Golden Isles Olive Oil. Ready to call it a night? Head to the Pier Village area, adored by locals and visitors alike, where you can find a great room at Strachan Carriage House, Ocean Inn & Suites or Village Inn & Pub.

Next up, at Jekyll Island, start off your day by strolling around the National Historic District, observing the animals in rehabilitation at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center and soaking up some rays at Driftwood Beach. Our favorite places to grab lunch are Latitude 31, Tortuga Jack’s and Courtyard at Crane. When you’re ready to shop, head to Jekyll’s main shopping district, Beach Village, for a wide variety of stores which sell everything from souvenirs to specialty groceries. After a day well spent, we recommend getting some rest at Jekyll Island Club Hotel, The Westin or the Holiday Inn Resort. Enjoy your stay!
