Wood-fired pizzas and a semi-swanky atmosphere define Squirrel Pizza.
The deep culinary chops and “semi-swanky” an atmosphere that made Chef Chris Dickerson’s Corner Taco a Jacksonville icon are getting set to transform Savannah’s views on Italian when he launches Squirrel in June. Fueled by Dickerson’s passion for authenticity, Squirrel will serve up distinctive pizza pies cooked in a pecan wood-fired, custom-built Pavesi oven, paired with craft beer, an extensive wine list and a deep bench of cocktails. Savannah’s own Elizabeth Demos was tapped to create the perfectly relaxed atmosphere, informed by old-world European influence.

Savannah had been a regular day trip destination for Chef Chris Dickerson during his three-year chef’s apprenticeship program at the acclaimed Cloister Hotel on Sea Island, Georgia. His culinary journey took him to Aspen where he opened Nobu Matsuhisa’s famed sushi spot, after which he traveled the world for a decade to sample various cultural foodways. His first restaurant concept, Corner Taco, brought him back to his hometown of Jacksonville. Now he’s set his sights on the hostess city.
