The cobblestone roads. The Spanish moss. The antebellum architecture. Between Savannah’s rich history and modern Southern lifestyle, choosing what to see in the Hostess City can seem like a daunting task. Here we have complied a balanced list of the top 6 things to see in Savannah, each filled with history, romance, mystery or just classic Southern charm.

Ft. Pulaski

Located 15 miles from Savannah’s historic district, Ft. Pulaski stands strong today as a reminder of the defining moments that happened during the Civil War when the fort was taken under siege by the Union. Recognized as a National Monument, Ft. Pulaski offers beautiful scenery, unique history and impressive architectural components that make this site an adventure for history buffs and casual observers of all ages. For more information, call 912-786-5787

Ghost tours offer the bravest of souls a chance to learn about the ghosts and spirits that haunt the historical district. With so many different tours to choose from, ghost tours offer a unique and fun look on the city’s past spooky history.

Here is a list of some Ghost Tours available:

Skidaway Island State Park

Take a break from the downtown scene and visit Skidaway Island State Park for a breath of fresh air. The park borders a part of Georgia’s intracoastal waterway, resulting in a beautiful maritime forest and salt marshes, which is home to abundant wildlife, such as deer, raccoons, egrets and fiddler crabs.  There are multiple trails to explore, each lined with natural scenery and Spanish moss dripping from the trees. For more information, call 912-598-2300.

Telfair Museums

With three diverse buildings, Telfair Museums offer an enriching experience to each visitor who encounters the classic and cutting-edge artwork housed. A single admission fee allows you to view each of the museum’s sites, each offering each offering architectural brilliance and close proximity to each other in the historic district. With rotating and permanent exhibits, visitors can enjoy beautiful and original contemporary and classic works of art. For more information, call 912-790-8800
