Beyond Tradition

Coastal Ear, Nose & Throat leaves no stone unturned when it comes to treating patients

There’s an inherent limitation when you hear the phrase “ears, nose and throat,” as though a practice specializing in this area would only specialize in those three areas.  They take time to educate patients about their condition and the treatment.

At Coastal Ear, Nose & Throat your ears nose and throat are just the beginning. Their practice has expanded “pretty extensively,” according to Dr. David S. Oliver, to better serve its patients.

“We’re taking some of the traditional aspects of an ENT practice and taking it a step further with our allergy, hearing and balance centers to provide the best care,” he said. The first few differences you’ll notice are right on the sign of the practice: allergy and hearing. “Offering hearing healthcare and allergy treatments allow us to go beyond standard ENT care and treat patients with multiple concerns at one location.”

Each of these additional aspects of the practice complements the services patients receive from Dr. Oliver and his staff. The Fyzical Therapy and Balance Center offers rehabilitation with our unique Safety Overhead System that provides tailored therapy in a secure, confident environment for those suffering balance issues. Home sleep studies are available to provide convenient diagnosis of sleep apnea that lead to treatment options that can range from oral splints to implantable tongue stimulators. In office balloon sinuplasty for non-surgical repair of collapsing sinuses or implantable stents for those with chronic sinus inflammation, are just a few of the remarkable treatments that have expanded this practice well beyond traditional ENT.

Ultimately, all of these services are part of a practice that starts with the ears, nose and throat, but doesn’t stop there. It’s about the health of the patient and treating the issues that are keeping them from achieving their optimum health, be it their balance or hearing issues, allergy or sinus issues, or snoring or sleep issues. It’s about a healthier you.

Keep It Clean
More than once you’ve probably had someone tell you “keep your nose clean,” but you may not realize what a huge impact that can have on your health. “One of the most important things you can do is to condition your nose,” said Dr. Oliver. “It’s basically like a filter for your body.”
To accomplish this, he recommends an irrigation regimen with more than just the typical saline solution. He cites ChitoRhino as one example, a nasal rinse that contains chitosan. Beyond simply rinsing, this compound contains anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties for healthier sinuses.

About The Doc
Already an accomplished physician before he arrived in Savannah, Dr. Oliver has been advancing the frontiers of ENT medicine locally since 1994. He became a solo practitioner in 2009 with an eye toward building the practice and changing lives. His practice focuses on pediatric ENT disorders, sinus disease, sleep apnea treatment and many innovative outpatient and office minimally invasive procedures. Having performed the only Endoscopic Salivary Gland surgeries in Savannah, he continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
