Get Ready for Hilton Head's Fest Season

Published:

This is it – the time of year Hilton Head Island truly comes to life. It’s the best of times, it’s the fest of times as the calendar bursts at the seam with event after event celebrating everything great about island life.

Here are a few you must check out, and a handy hint on where to stay.

The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina’s Disco Ball, March 16

Dust off your bellbottoms and polish your boogie shows, because the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is hosting a throwback bash that’ll have you disco dreaming. For one night only, the arts center will be transformed into Studio 54 while area DJ Mike Taylor spins some classic jams from the Bee Gees, K.C. and the Sunshine Band and all the acts that made the disco era fabulous.

It all kicks off at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $150. Visit artshhi.com for details.

Harbour Town Springfest, March 18

Built as an homage to the quaint seaside towns of the Mediterranean, Harbour Town has become an icon of Hilton Head Island. Its waterside promenade is home to the island’s finest array of shops, bars and restaurants as it leads you around dazzling yachts and on to the majestic Harbour Town Lighthouse and recently refurbished pier.

On March 18, you can see Harbour Town in all its glory during Springfest. Vendors will be offering great deals during a sidewalk sale from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., the Carolina Dreamers Car Club will bring in a sampling of stunning automobiles from noon-4 p.m. and famed local band Deas Guyz will play from 1-4 p.m.

Wingfest, March 23 and 24

Now in its 22nd year, Wingfest is one of those events that doesn’t just celebrate food, it serves as a sign that the high season has once again returned to the island.

At the same time, it seriously celebrates some food. More than 25 area restaurants will fly into Shelter Cove Community Park on wings of deep-fried deliciousness, serving up somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,500 pounds of wings. The two-day event will see everything from live music to a wing eating contest and more as locals slather on the sauce.

A special tailgate-style “Wings & Beer” festival will run from 5:30-8:30 March 23, with the main festival running from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. March 24.

Previously known as Straight From the Heart, this massively popular event will include a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, a delightful gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions and plenty of entertainment, music and dancing.

The Spring Fling will be held at The Westin Hilton Head Resort & Spa. Tickets are $150, call Rose Fotia at 843-681-7668 to purchase.
