Monday 5 Things…..T-I-DOUBLE-G-ER…..
As I waited for colleagues to arrive for a dinner meeting last week, I interloped on a conversation (which has become more of a sport for me after years of active listening to other tête-à-têtes) between two women; one of which said she wished her husband would be more of a Tigger than the Eeyore he had become. The second woman came close to choking on her drink in a laughing response. The lady’s concerned seemed appropriate for a redux of a previous M5T.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always identified with Tigger from “Winnie The Poo”. Tigger was perhaps the most mischievous and certainly the most animated of the nine characters that meandered through the “Hundred Acre Wood.” Interloping on another lunchtime conversation about Winnie and Eeyore a few weeks ago got me thinking of the infectious tiger who reveled in bouncing.
1. Sense of Self-Worth.
Tigger never lets others dictate who he should be. When he lost his stripes briefly, he got them back when he realized that he couldn’t be all things to all people. He is, and only can be, just Tigger.
2. Unusual Uniqueness.
He mispronounces words, makes some people uncomfortable with his energy and bouncing, and is always ready for the next adventure. He knows he is one of a kind and he is comfortable with his unique talents and gifts. He is at his best when his true friends are around him.
3. Assured Attitude.
Tigger has an innocently large, but healthy, ego and believes that Tigger’s can do anything. Never a victim and always a victor, Tigger is an unabashed positive thinker, always wanting the best for himself and for his friends.
4. Bouncing Back.
Tigger is always positive even when things don’t go the way he planned, when critics try to bring him down, or when others try to take away his need to bounce. Tigger always choses to move forward from disappointment and failure.
5. Exceedingly Exuberant.
Always energetic, and enthusiastic, Tigger genuinely wants to inspire, to lead, to have fun, and to have his happiness rub off on other people around him. That’s what Tigger’s do best.
Here’s to a week of embracing your stripes, bouncing when you want to, and finding ways to have some ridicurously Tiggerific fun. TTFN.
