Monday 5 Things.....Today.....
The pre-dawn air was peaceful as a crescent moon meandered along its orbit across a star-lite sky. On a fourth-floor deck just outside of Atlanta, with freshly brewed cup of Sumatra coffee in hand, I watched the day slowly begin to emerge. Relishing my seclusion; alone in an exquisitely designed space, inhaling and savoring rich aromatic caffeine whilst deliberating on a full day of photographing one of the best kept secrets in Georgia. Thoughts of yesterday, tomorrow and today saturated my mind. Spade and Bourdain. Faces and memories of a friend, of whom the media had no interest, that chose the same path. With no pun intended, the nonpareil value of “Today” suddenly collided with my thoughts and I grabbed my iPad. Today's M5T shares the thoughts of a solitary man in the early morning. Today.
1. Today is Here
It’s the beginning of a new day. It’s your day. A fresh blank canvas waiting to be colored, shaped, illuminated, and shared with those around you. Today is the surest thing you have.
2. Today you have a Choice
Use it as you please, embracing all that the day brings…or waste it as you please. It’s your choice. You can choose to focus on the negative of what might or might not happen, or you can choose to focus on the positives of what can be. You can choose to focus on your blessings and those in your life. Be grateful, be kind. Be yourself.
3. Today is not Yesterday
Yesterday ended last night. You can let go of hurts, pain, disappointments and failures. Finish today what you didn’t yesterday. Use yesterday to motivate you today. Own this moment… right now. Value yourself and your time. Cherish whatever is in front of you…today.
4. Today is not Tomorrow
Today will be gone soon enough. You can complete what you started. You can improve…your perspective, your mindset and your sense of urgency. Prepare for tomorrow, but today is worthy of your full attention. Breath in the moment, put your doubts away and find a pathway out of your comfort zone.
5. Today is yours to Live
Live to love. Live to laugh, to cry, to dance, to sing. Live to create, to learn. Live to do something unexpected. Live to soar, to dream. Just live. Today.
Here’s to your today.
