A Gracious Christmas is the largest annual fundraiser by the women of First Presbyterian Church in Savannah, GA. They will temporarily sweep you into an old-fashioned Christmas adventure including a fine semi-formal Christmas luncheon, three speaker sessions featuring:
Christmas memories by author and Savannah Morning News columnist Polly Stramm,
creating a memorable “tablescape” by designer HRH The Duchess of State Alexandra Trujillo de Taylor, and
Learning container gardening for the holidays from Darcy O’Connor, owner, Darcy’s Gardens in Savannah
The event rounds out with a silent auction and a marketplace of homemade gifts, centerpieces, wreaths, and sweets. These are southern comforts at their best!
Over the past nine years, A Gracious Christmas has donated $87,000 to local nonprofits for the benefit of Savannah women and children in need. This year’s net funds will be donated to Court Appointed Child Advocates (CASA, ge/) to support an advocacy coordinator and train volunteers to specifically serve “dually-involved” children who have experienced abuse and neglect and are in the juvenile justice system due to illegal activities. These children are highly vulnerable and not yet receiving advocacy through CASA.
CASA makes a huge difference in the lives of these underserved young people and improves their likelihood of finding permanent homes through advocacy. National judicial associations, such as the Conference of Chief Justices and the Conference of State Court Administrators, endorse CASA because their member judges rely on the sworn statements of CASA volunteers to make decisions that are in the best interest of the children and families they serve.
On December 5th you can go back a bit in time to memorable Christmas moments, while you help “dually-involved” foster children find permanent homes. What a double dose of good tidings you will have when you attend A Gracious Christmas!
