Sandra Bullock's Oasis by the Sea

Tybee Island's Jewel Prince is For Sale

If you want to call it “A Little Slice of Heaven,” okay.

Two properties on Tybee Island currently owned by Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock are for sale listed at $6.1 million. This price includes nine parcels on 2.77 acres, with three buildable lots – two of which are beachfront. If a buyer does not want the entire estate, the guesthouse is available by itself for $1.399 million. Both houses are being sold fully furnished minus just a few personal items, according to the listing agent, Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty on Tybee Island. Get ready to say, “Wow!”

According to the listing site, if you might be interested in buying this property, “The main house has 3,360 square feet of luxury living for you to enjoy. Entering up the grand front stairway, flanked by expansive screened porches, puts you right in the heart of the home. The cathedral ceilings encompass the living room, dining room and kitchen, which are all open to each other, perfect for family gatherings and entertaining friends. The gourmet kitchen boasts everything the home chef needs including Viking and Sub-Zero stainless steel appliances, a wine chiller and a large butler’s pantry. The master suite is located on the main level with a separate shower and claw foot soaking tub, an expansive wall of closets, and its own screened-in porch. The main house, on its five lots, is fully fenced in with a private gated access to the secluded beach on the Atlantic Ocean for you to enjoy.”

And Baywatch, “is the 2,848 square-foot guest house with three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The open layout is made for today’s lifestyle and allows for plenty of natural light from the expansive windows and porches. There is a roomy guest bedroom on the main level, with the master suite and another bedroom on the top level. The master suite encompasses the entire back of the house and has its own balcony with ocean views and stairs to a crow’s nest that lets you see for miles! The spacious master bath has a separate shower and garden tub with double sinks and plenty of vanity space. The ground level is host to a game room, garage parking and opens onto a patio perfect for grilling and enjoying the sea air. There is a shared walkway to the north Tybee beach that is only steps away.”

To inquire about purchasing either or both of these properties, contact Rachel Umbreit at 912.220.8601 or Ruthia Lynah at 912.441.4555 at Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty.

But if you don’t want to commit to purchase either of the properties, they are available as vacation rentals through Tybee Vacation Rentals. “Baywatch” is the guest home. Although not “pet friendly,” as a rental, it is available for a minimum of four consecutive days from May 29 through Aug. 8, 2020. According to Tybee Vacation Rentals, prices are subject to seasonal rates based on demand, so it’s best to call them at 877.277.0575, or check out the website at tybeevacationrentals.com.

Here’s what “Baywatch” has to offer: “This immaculate Tybee vacation home has been professionally decorated with comfortable, light and airy décor, which is the perfect setting for a serene island vacation. Relax in the casual luxury of this wonderful home. Warning: You may not want to leave!” is how the house is described on the website. Among the amenities are: a custom kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a dining room with seating for eight; and additional dining outside in a covered patio and bar seating for four more. Also three bedrooms (two with king-size beds, one with a queen-size bed) with full baths, five big-screen TVs, and only a 50-yard walk to the beach. The sofa in the living room also converts to a queen-size bed, so the house can easily accommodate up to eight people.

Also according to the website: “The ground-level of the home is a great entertainment space with a flat-screen TV, stereo, Ping-Pong table, games, books and beach toys.” The yard is professionally landscaped and the beach is just steps away. For outdoor entertaining, “there are large covered porches with plenty of seating to enjoy the Tybee breezes. There is also a gas grill for cookouts!”

Look at the pictures and say “Wow!”

The Elbaroda property (yes, that’s “adorable” spelled backwards) is just as stunning, if not more so, and also available as a vacation rental year round. According to the website, “Elbaroda Hideaway is a spacious home and a private oasis on the north end of the island. This home is replete with beautiful landscaped grounds, a large swimming pool and private north beach access. This home has been professionally decorated with a mix of comfortable furnishings, antiques and extra amenities.” From the large furnished porches, guests can watch dolphins frolic in the ocean; they can lounge by the pool, meditate in the bamboo garden, or workout in the fitness room. This property sleeps up to 12 people and is available for four-day minimum stays year round.

Scenes of the South

FACES OF THE SOUTH-THE TRILOGY GALLERY 5

This is not a celebration. It is not a salute. This, readers, is a manifesto. It is a bold declaration of the richness of the South, of the majestic talents, relentless ambition and singular vision that reside just behind each face you pass in your travels. These are the faces of the people who are creating the new South through the sweat of their brow and the depth of their passions. But if you never look closer you may never know how deep that passion goes, and what it has accomplished.
