6 Southern Homes You Would Love to Own Now!

Published:

For centuries, the eyes of the world have turned to the South when it comes to lavish homes. Our palatial estates and waterfront riverhouses have set the trend for style and raised the bar for sophisticated comfort. We asked a few of our area’s finest realtors for a private showing of their most stunning properties.

Own a beautiful piece of Savannah’s majestic history

Built in 1872 for George W. Saussy, this Second Empire mansion features intricate exterior ironwork and an eclectic combination of motifs. High ceilings soar above an interior in great move-in condition. On the first floor, an elegant living room and dining room lead to an oversized granite and stainless-steel kitchen, which would be any chef’s dream. Sporting three stories, with heart pine floors throughout, there are four spacious bedrooms, including a sitting room and room of closets off the master bedroom, and two and a half bathrooms.

There is also a “trunk” room which provides ample flexibility for a home office and more. One cannot help but linger outdoors in the plush courtyard adorned with both native species and exotic plants. The courtyard’s circular design has a central raised brick bed anchoring the space and a wide range of shrubs, trees and bushes that blossom year-round. A detached garage provides off-street parking for one car as well as a large storage area. Taavo is proudly associated with Celia Dunn Sothebys International Realty located at 17 West Charlton street in beautiful historic district of Savannah Georgia.

FACES OF THE SOUTH — THE TRILOGY GALLERY 5

This is not a celebration. It is not a salute. This, readers, is a manifesto. It is a bold declaration of the richness of the South, of the majestic talents, relentless ambition and singular vision that reside just behind each face you pass in your travels. These are the faces of the people who are creating the new South through the sweat of their brow and the depth of their passions. But if you never look closer you may never know how deep that passion goes, and what it has accomplished.
